Fertility and Postpartum for Mom and Babe, Michele Sayball

Learn which herbs and practices help to alleviate common ailments in pregnancy, the fourth trimester, and infancy.

Dr. Michele Sayball is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor with a special interest in pediatrics, maternal health, and family medicine; as well as being a home birth midwife.  She believes a healthy pregnancy and early childhood creates a foundation to lifelong wellness – although anytime is the BEST time to take charge of your health.

Sacred Plant Spirit Medicine Circle, Lucia Marie

Participants of all ages are welcomed into a sacred circle, where we will gather together in order to learn, explore and meditate with a plant.  We will invite the plant spirit in using guided meditation.  We will finish with a discussion of the medicinal qualities of the plant.

 Lucia of Soul Transitions is an herbalist, tarot reader and intuitive spiritual coach working at Solar Hill.  She helps women of all ages get more in touch with their intuitive gifts, tap into their own innate wisdom and live a more vibrant life.

Kid’s Program: Kids’ Tea Making, Susan Stanton

How many different flavors can an herb have?  We will taste sweet, bitter, sour, spicy and aromatic herbs.  Then, as flavor experts you will use dried herbs to make your own tea bags to bring home.  All ages are welcome but kids under five please bring an adult.

 Susan E. Stanton, Clinical Herbalist offers health consultations and custom herb formulas at the Rambunctious Botanicals Apothecary in Putney, VT and is the Herbal Educator at Brattleboro Food Co-op.  She offers weedwalks and classes for adults as well as children.

Herbal Marketplace, organized by Alyssa Holmes

Alyssa is an herbalist/owner at the Brattleboro Holistic Health Center, and author of The Medicinal Gardening Handbook: a Complete Guide to Growing, Harvesting, and Using Healing Herbs. She grows herbs and makes medicine for her clients and family on her homestead in Brattleboro.

Herbal First Aid, Anne Louise Burdett

 In this class we will cover basic herbal first aid situations and some herbal remedies for on-site emergency care. This will include creating a template for participants to go home and put together their own Herbal First Aid Kit.

Anne Louise Burdett is a western constitutional herbalist with a clinical practice in Shelburne, Ma. and Brattleboro, VT. She practices a harm reduction approach and low cost care. For more information, check out her website

Herbs for Digestive Disorders, Emma Lee

Here is a look at some of the most common patterns of imbalance in the digestive system. Through the eyes of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, we will discuss constitutional assessment and how fun it is to match people and herbs. Using combinations of both Chinese and western herbs, we will learn how to be most effective in our treatments and formulations.

Emma Lee is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist who has been practicing herbal medicine for 15 years, and uses both Chinese and Western herbs regularly in her practice. She is a co-founder of the Brattleboro Holistic Health Center.

Plant Walk, Justin Garner

Learn the identities and medicinal uses of native and naturalized plants found in southern Vermont’s woods and fields. The goal of the class will be to leave each participant with the knowledge to safely harvest and use at least one of these plants for personal and family use. Ecological harvesting practices will be emphasized.

A lifelong student of plants, Justin enjoys empowering people to regain their health through the use of plants. He is available to lead mushroom and wild plant identification forays and to conduct clinical consultations out of Sweet Flag Medicinals Herbal Clinic & Apothecary.

Kid’s Program: Making Fairy Wings with Rebecca Golden

Make fairy wings to take home. We will decorate them with fairy dust, paint, and pressed herbs and flowers. A sliding scale craft fee of $5-$8/wing is requested. There is a limit of 10 kids for this craft activity.

Rebecca Golden, of Earth Angel Herbals, is an Herbal Educator who offers a Plant Medicine and Earth Wisdom Apprenticeship each growing season along with a variety of other earth-based education and wellness classes. She is also a Reiki practitioner, science teacher, and mom.

What does it mean for an herb to be heating or cooling, drying or moistening and why does it matter? In this workshop we’ll explore basic energetics with opportunities to taste various herbal preparations. This will allow you to refine your use of herbs, tailoring your choices to individuals, conditions & environments.

Mushroom Medicine, Juliette Abigail Carr

Mushrooms provide gentle medicine that acts on our bodies’ deepest layers, maintaining and restoring health throughout the physical and emotional system. Learn the medicine of local species and ways to bring them into your life, including growing them at home.

Earth Mandala Ceremony, Marcella Eversole

Earth Mandalas unify the creative capacity of the human being with a heartfelt offering that reconnects us with the sacred web of life.  We will create a sacred mandala throughout the day, culminating with a traditional ritual from Central America.  The flowering staff ceremony was passed to Marcella after four years of ceremonial gatherings.  The staffs bless the union of spirit & matter, and the magic of the earth expressed through the herbs.  Enjoy the staffs at closing circle.

You will walk away with a core understanding of what drying is, to give you the tools to design and use your own drying system to fit your needs.

 Mindful Memory: Herbal Strategies for Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, Cindy Hebbard

Join us for this informative talk about how to use the foods you eat and delicious herbal teas or supplements to help you maintain or improve your memory, nerves, and brain skills.
