What We Do
Old Ways Herbal is located in Newfane, Vermont, on a small farm of pristine forest and fields overlooking the Rock River. It is the home and practice of Juliette Abigail Carr, a nationally recognized herbalist who teaches around the country as well as at Old Ways Herbal School of Plant Medicine, publishes widely, and maintains a busy clinical practice in the health of women, other people with a uterus, and children (offering both in-person and long-distance support).
We are centrally located in New England: 20 minutes from Brattleboro, Putney, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts, 2 hours from Montpelier, 2 hours from Albany, 2.5 hours from Burlington, 2.5 hours from Boston, 4 hours from New York City.
The Old Ways Herbal School of Plant Medicine is located in our forest Botanical Sanctuary and offers three levels of coursework, an in-depth apprenticeship, and workshops on a variety of topics related to science-based herbalism, gardening, and homesteading. Work trade and interest-free payment plans are available to help cover the cost of tuition.
Juliette offers sliding scale clinical appointments, using radical trauma-informed herbalism to help people across the country learn to maximize their families’ wellness, with office hours in Brattleboro, Newfane, and over the phone or zoom. Our Apothecary uses traditional techniques to create herbal products available in person and online, including products just for children and custom formulas designed for your needs.
Land stewardship, community building, and promoting health self-empowerment are central to our practice. Use the links below to learn more.
